This illustration accompanied an article for Broadly's 100 years series, where they took an in-depth look at the history and future of reproductive rights in honor of Planned Parenthood's 100-year anniversary. Amanda Arnold's piece discusses how abortion and sex education have been silenced in classrooms across the US.

Thinking back on sex education through my high school education–not once did I learn about methods of contraception or any about abortion at all. This is an enormous issue that we are facing in public high schools.

From the text: "Abortion is not very integrated into sex education at all, and that's because of where we are focused: on contraception and condom use," Panjabi says, which presents a big issue: 26 states require abstinence be stressed, while not one requires the same of contraception."
